About the Programme
The Interview Mastery Programme has been designed for Individuals that are looking to master job interview processes or major career transitions (internal or external).
The series provides self-paced interactive programmes that help individuals explore their purpose, understand defining influences and experiences in their life and professional career, and provide a practical approach to developing the professional stories that will form the foundational narrative during any job search, interview process, or important career conversations.
The programmes and the platform can also be a career companion throughout your working life and is accessible anytime, anywhere through any internet-connected device. As your journey evolves, you can continue to update and refine your career narrative to ensure it's up to date and relevant for what you need.
Of course, it is natural that some individuals going on this journey may require some support. To prompt reflection or challenge our thoughts and perceptions. With this in mind, our career coaches are also here to assist you each step of the way.
Why is Interview Mastery Important?
I find that as a collective, candidates will traditionally underestimate the investment or commitment required to showcase their potential at those critical junctures. Subsequently, candidates are not prepared and lack meaningful content that will demonstrate their experience or potential. More importantly, however, the lack of preparedness manifested a more fundamental failing - being so focused on recalling impromptu responses and experiences, we forget to consider our presence. In essence, we are focused on what we are saying and not how our stories are being delivered or received.
Presence is the state of our existence in the room at that moment. It is our body language. Our energy. Our smile. It is a myriad of small social nuances that as human beings provide us an opportunity to connect and build chemistry with interviewers. This social intuitiveness or emotional intelligence is vital to an interviewee’s performance and in my experience, most unsuccessful candidates will reflect that “they just didn’t feel the connection”.
According to the Harvard Business Review (HBR) in What Makes a Good Leader, emotional intelligence (EQ) is twice as important as technical skills or IQ. I believe this equation is equally, if not more valid, in an interview setting. Daniel Goldman, the HBR author, describes EQ as self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills – all essential skills in our ability to connect, engage and build rapport with other human beings during that 1 hour interview.
Out of anything you take from this program, the writing and practicing of what I call your playbook will likely provide the most tangible transformation. Without exception, those that I have coached through it, have found it hugely beneficial, if not game-changing. Needless to say, the more effort and practice you put in, the more you will get out of it.
